How to Choose the Right Paint Sheen for Every Room

Begin with how the room is used
A quiet bedroom, busy hallway, kitchen, bathroom, and trim package do not face the same wear. Consider contact, moisture, cleaning frequency, and whether children or pets use the space.
Understand the visual tradeoff
Flatter finishes tend to soften reflected light, while higher-sheen finishes create more visible reflection. That reflection can add definition to trim and doors but may also emphasize uneven repairs or texture.
Test in the actual lighting
